Darks & Ducks hunts (or Dark geese and ducks).   A huntable field would have 1,200 - 15,000 dark geese and countless ducks feeding for one or more days prior to the hunt.  The decoy spread will be dark goose decoys (10 - 18 dz fullbody or equal), duck decoys (3 dz), spinning wing duck decoys (2 - 3) and usually several dozen snow goose decoys.    Full body or similar decoys and lots of motion.  This spread  produces awesome  up-close, webs down decoy shooting.   Hunters are well concealed in comfortable field blinds.

"Snows" is usually just that - lots of snows.   A huntable field would scout 10,000 - 40,000 feeding geese prior to the hunt.  The decoy spread would consist of 700+ Sillosock decoys   A high quality electronic caller is available - but optional depending upon your preference.  With an electronic caller no dark decoys can be used. We believe in a 3D snow goose spread.  Multiple flying decoys and several tornadoes are added depending on wind conditions.  Several spinning wing duck decoys will be set (bodies covered in white to permit caller when used).  Snow goose hunts almost always include the occasional dark goose opportunity as well as a few to numerous duck shots.  Hunters conceal in field blinds or white suits.

Duck hunts are generally afternoon hunts and favor pea or barley fields.  A location between or next to staging waters is a plus.  Decoy spreads consist of a moderate dark goose spread, several dozen snow goose decoys, field duck decoys and numerous spinning wing decoys.   Drop the dark goose and duck decoys and the e-caller can be used.  Depending on weather, this is generally a late afternoon blast.   Dark geese may not be taken on afternoon hunts until after Oct 15.  Snow geese are available all day.

Our guides are not only expert hunters - we are second to none in our scouting abilities and efforts.  Although Saskatchewan boast some of the highest waterfowl densities in North America, scouting will make or break every hunt.  We scout, and sometimes re-scout,  every hunt.   We have the best equipment, decoys, and blinds, ...... but without good scouting, hunt success would not meet our expectations for you and your party.
